What Is the O-Shot?
For a number of women, a decreased libido, vaginal dryness, and similar concerns are common problems faced throughout the aging process. At Johnson Family Medical, we offer a rejuvenating solution called the O-Shot, which uses a patient's own platelet-rich blood plasma (PRP) to stimulate collagen production in vaginal tissues. The O-Shot can help counteract vaginal laxity following childbirth, enhance bladder control affected by incontinence, and increase sexual arousal in women, among providing other benefits. This PRP treatment is administered by certified nurse injector, who is trained and credentialed by the Cellular Medicine Association to provide the O-Shot for Frisco, TX patients. They will review your needs and help you decide if the O-Shot is right for you.
"I cannot recommend this office and this team more. Katherine and her team are just phenomenal. I was very impressed with the personal attention, professionalism, and level of care that she took to fully understand my needs, describe the procedure needed nd educate me on options, and all the while keep me completely comfortable throughout. I will certainly be coming back and would unequivocally recommend her practice to anyone."- A.U. / Google / May 12, 2023
"Cat Stanworth is amazing! I’ve been seeing her for years and she is always pleasant, personable, knowledgeable, and makes you feel comfortable each visit. I needed to add on after meeting Katherine and Lacy as well. So nice, helpful, felt very comfortable and cared for! Overall great place!"- A.H. / Google / Nov 26, 2022
"Seriously would not go anywhere else. Katherine Johnson actually pays attention to symptoms, patient records, and listens to her patients. SHE was the one who asked me if I’d been getting routine scans and sent me for one - the one in which we discovered my thyroid cancer had returned. Not my specialist. SHE was the one who was able to balance my medications post surgery and proved my Endocrinologist wrong, more than once. I have energy again, I can focus, and I actually lost weight instead of gained after having a complete thyroid removal. She is the best of the best!"- T.A. / Google / Nov 03, 2022
"I love seeing Mylisa and the staff. They are always so happy and are eager to greet you."- C.P. / Google / Oct 25, 2022
"I’ve been seeing Katherine for a while and greatly appreciate her level of care of listening. She has never shamed me, or talked down to me. I’ve recently expanded my care with her by getting Botox and fillers with her. I definitely made the right choice by choosing her - so happy with my results! I’ve also seen Cat at her office for PicoSure laser. Best choice ever! I have the complexion I thought I could only dream about! Highly recommend Johnson Family Medical!!"- K.W. / Google / Oct 21, 2022
How Does the O-Shot Procedure Work?
The O-Shot is a very quick outpatient procedure performed at Johnson Family Medical. A small sample of your blood will be drawn and placed in a centrifuge to separate the plasma, which contains potent growth factor components. These nutrients will then be carefully injected into the vaginal area, initiating the production of new collagen and healthy cells. Many Frisco, TX women who receive the O-Shot experience an improvement in vaginal laxity and enhanced sexual stimulation and sensation, along with other benefits.
Does the O-Shot hurt?
You will experience little to no discomfort during the O-Shot injection process. Patients are numbed with a topical cream to minimize any discomfort you may feel from the injection. Some may experience a slight pinch or warm sensation, but we have never had a complaint of pain.
How long does it take for the O-Shot to start working?
It takes about two to three weeks for new cells to begin forming, and the full effects can be expected within two to three months.
Are there any side effects to the O-Shot?
As with any injection, there may be some soreness at the injection site, but this usually lasts for only 24 hours.
Most patients will have little to no side effects from the O-Shot; however, in some cases, there have been reported effects including spontaneous orgasm, sexual arousal during urination, ejaculatory orgasm, prolonged sexual arousal, and sensitivity. These experiences are temporary.
Some reported decreased sensation for a few days up to two weeks after the procedure but these effects were also transitory.
Most patients can have intercourse 24 hours after the procedure, however, you should be aware of your body and the healing process. Your doctor will help recommend the best course of action post-procedure.
How long do the O-Shot effects last?
Results can vary for every patient, but most report lasting results for one to three years. Many women choose to have a refresher procedure every 18 months to maintain results.
